Billionaire hotelier orders world’s largest K-array system

The billionaire owner of Nordic Hotels and Resorts, Petter Stordalen, has opened a flagship hotel and cultural hub, featuring 295 K-array and KGEAR products.

The Sommerro Oslo project in a historic building in the Norwegian capital is the largest K-array installation to date.

The restoration of the building cost more than €250m and was carried out in cooperation with Oslo’s director of cultural heritage. The work took in 231 rooms and suites, a medical spa and pool area with adjoining gym, a rooftop sauna and swimming pool, six restaurants, seven event halls, meeting rooms, a library, a cinema, a piano bar and two live stages.

Oslo-based integrator Bravo worked closely with designer Grecodeco, as the AV systems needed to be discreet and in keeping with 1930s-style decor, including original frescoes by Norwegian artist Per Krohg. Audio technology was supplied by local distributor First Audio.

Eivind Vierli, project manager at Bravo, commented: ““K-array’s unique and discreet loudspeakers were the key to providing a solution that met both the sound quality expectations and the restrictions from the interior architect. We could not have realised this project so successfully with another brand.”

Espen Siverts, owner of First Audio, added: “K-array products were ideal for this project. The variety of sizes, models and finishes available allowed us to build a system that could meet the listening expectations of the end user without compromising on aesthetics.”
