Pure AV delivers secure technology to nuclear industry

The Nuclear AMRC, which helps UK manufacturers win work across the nuclear sector, collaborates with companies to improve their productivity, save energy and reduce costs.

When the organisation relocated from its base in Rotherham to the new Nuclear AMRC Midlands facility in Derby, it was crucial that a standardised technology infrastructure was put in place to support the building.

After delivering several high-quality projects at the original Nuclear AMRC and across the University of Sheffield AMRC estate, integrator Pure AV was tasked with managing the project.

The Pure AV team designed a system that would provided the highest level of security, while ensuring consistency for Nuclear AMRC personnel and enabling IT stakeholders to centrally manage and monitor all devices from a separate location.

The entrance to the open-plan facility features a 130” Samsung LED video wall with a 1.5mm pixel pitch,  housed in a Quadra AV Furniture custom surround. As it is a versatile space capable of accommodating large conferences and presentations, it was vital that the AV system was flexible and could be controlled by users of ranging skill sets.

On a day-to-day basis, the ONELAN digital signage platform enables the seamless deployment of content from an off-site location. When hosting large-scale events, Extron source control provides the ability to quickly connect devices via HDMI and automatically deploy content to the audience via the video wall. Once the presentation concludes, users can detach their devices, and the ONELAN digital signage reverts back to the predefined content.

To further enhance the overall experience in this space, Extron control provides users with the flexibility to finely tune the audio levels across strategically positioned Cornered Audio Ci4-V passive loudspeakers.

As the Nuclear AMRC’s partner organisations did not utilise the same video service, Pure AV recommended an agnostic approach in each collaboration space. After reviewing several options, it was agreed that Barco ClickShare Conference was the ideal solution due to its simplistic end-user approach, and strong alliances with other technology vendors.

The wireless conferencing system requires users to simply connect their device to the ClickShare dongle, launch the desired video service and instantly activate the in-room peripherals.

The audio and video within these spaces is handled by Biamp ceiling speakers and a Logitech Rally camera.

To complete the small and medium-sized spaces, bespoke Quadra collaboration furniture with an integrated 75″ iiyama display and AMX cable cubbies have been placed in each table.

A 98″ LG LED display sits at the front of the larger meeting space to provide high-quality pictures.

The boardroom is home to a 130” Samsung LED video wall, with an Angekis PTZ cameras at each end to capture the participants and the presenter. An array of Biamp ceiling speakers have also been deployed to provide optimal audio coverage.

An iPad-based system was developed by Pure AV’s programming team to provide users with an easy way to select between a presentation or videoconferencing set-up, based on their specific needs.

Five 65″ LG displays were also positioned around the facility to showcase important content and messages to staff through the ONELAN platform. Behind four of them, a Barco ClickShare Present receiver unit allows users to quickly share content to any of the displays, ensuring that every space can host ad hoc discussions and reviews.
