LG Electronics has launched an LED screen brand for cinemas.
The LG Miraclass range comprises four models ranging from 14sq m to 101sq m, in either 2K or 4K resolution. The LDAA025-1 and LDAA012, which are 5m wide, are suitable for small-capacity theatres.
Employing self-emissive LED pixels, each LG Miraclass model delivers 24-bit colour processing and high-level contrast to give on-screen images depth and vibrancy. The LG Miraclass is capable of displaying 68.7 billion colour variations, while consistent brightness with no corner dimming produces distortion-free pictures.
All Miraclass displays are compatibility with Dolby’s Integrated Media Server, IMS3000.
LG Miraclass’s intuitive software makes it easy to manage and facilitates greater space efficiency by eliminating the need for projection rooms. The screen brightness of LG Miraclass models can be adjusted from 48 to 300 nits – in five increments – making them suitable for playing 2D/3D movies or delivering content for company presentations.
Paik Ki-mun, senior vice president and head of LG Electronics’ information display business unit, said: “LG is confident that LG Miraclass will satisfy the needs of operators and meet the expectations of movie-goers seeking memorable cinematic experiences. To accommodate rising demand and the diverse requirements of movie-theatre companies, more line-ups and models will be introduced in the future.”
LG’s LED-based displays are already be used by several cinema chains around the world. In Spain, Odeon Multicines recently installed an LG Miraclass screen at its cinema in Vilanova, and the company will be equipping its theatres in Madrid and Barcelona with similar technology in the coming months.
In July 2017, Samsung installed the first LED cinema screen, at the Lotte Cinema World Tower in South Korea. Eighteen months later, the Shanghai ARCH Wanda Cinema became the first mutliplex in the world to offer an LED screen in each auditorium, when it installed six Samsung Onyx screens.
