Market for AR, VR and MR displays to hit $4.6bn by 2034

A report by IDTechEx predicts that the global growth will be fuelled by sales of gaming-focused VR headsets, AR glasses and the Apple Vision Pro MR headset, which is due to launch next year.

The global market for augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) displays will reach $4.6bn by 2034, according to a new report.

IDTechEx’s Displays for Virtual, Augmented and Mixed Reality 2024-2034: Forecasts, Technologies, Markets report predicts that this will be achieved through a compound annual growth rate of 11%.

The growth will be fuelled by gaming-focused VR headsets from companies including Meta, Sony and Pico, as well as AR glasses from Vuzix and Microsoft. The Apple Vision Pro MR headset, which is due to launch next year, will also boost the market.

A wide range of display technologies is finding use in AR and VR headsets, with IDTechEx forecasting that these will be the key technologies serving the XR display market over the next decade.
